Basel

Basel has firmly established itself as the culture capital of Switzerland. This picturesque town on the banks of the Rhine bordering France and Germany, features some of Europe’s standout museums and galleries, with the world’s oldest art collection located at the Kunstmuseum. Basel is a city fiercely proud of its style and ambiance; with wonderful winding streets, glorious parks, fine-dining establishments and trendy bars, this city is a clean and safe environment for the elite traveler to relax in and enjoy. Undoubtedly the highlight of Basel is the River Rhine, which flows right through the heart of the city creating a wonderful backdrop to some of the best hotels and restaurants in Switzerland. Basel was virtually destroyed in 1356 by a huge earthquake, but out of the ruins rose the twin-towered The Cathedral, which now dominates the old town and the Basel skyline. This wonderful city is one to be enjoyed at a leisurely pace, either by perusing a museum, window shopping in the unique stores, strolling along the banks of the Rhine or sipping a drink at a riverside hostelry.
