Venice Marinas

By Chris Boyle

Marina Di Lio Grando

Venice is an increasingly popular yachting destination, however space is at a premium, so we advise that you reserve berthing facilities for your superyacht well in advance.

The best way to enter the Venice lagoon is through the Porto di Lido breakwaters, which is the busiest and largest entrance. There are berthing locations for superyachts throughout the lagoon, the most exclusive of which are the Salute Mooring posts just opposite Saint Mark’s Square.

There are no large marinas in the center of Venice, so berths are therefore distributed between several different zones. Venice aims to be the superyacht hub for the eastern Mediterranean and the Venice International Boat Show is a prestigious annual event in April.

MARINA DI LIO GRANDO

The marina is located right inside the lagoon and offers berthing to yachts up to 60 meters in length and seven meters wide.

There is easy access to the Venetian highways network and Marco Polo International airport is just 30 minutes away. The reliable Venice water taxi system provides visitors with a fast and efficient transport service to destinations across the city. A full range of port services are available including repairs, fuel laundry and boat charter. There are also water sport activities at the port, which has earned a coveted environmental certificate.

VENICE YACHT PIER

Venice Yacht Pier is a yachting agency specializing in accommodating superyachts in the city and can berth yachts up to 394 feet.

With space at a premium, the company is actively looking to develop new berthing areas, in addition to improving the general quality of existing berths. Currently VYP provide berthing at five locations: Riva San Bagio, Riva Dei Sette Martiri, Adriatica, Salute and San Basilio 24. Due to environmental laws in the lagoon the only port where refuelling is permitted is Basilio 2.

It serves the entire Italian Adriatic Coast and provides a 24-hour VIP concierge service to vessels visiting the city. JLT can provide berthing in four Venetian locations: Riva Sette Martiri, Riva San Biagio and on the mooring piles of Punta della Salute, as well as commercial berths at San Basilio 24 and Maritime Station. It works with the local authority to provide many other services including itinerary planning, yacht clearing, technical repairs, and onboard entertainment.

VENEZIA CERTOSA MARINA

Located just a few minutes from Piazza San Marco and the center of Venice, the Venice Certosa is one of the few marinas in the area that can accommodate any type of boat. It accepts vessels up to 60 meters in length and has a depth of six meters.

Just a 30-minute water taxi ride from the airport, the marina also has a wealth of water sports, a nautical school and a hotel with a bar and restaurant.
