1. The Private Jet Lifestyle with a Russian Twist
Last issue of Elite Traveler Insider we chronicled how Facebook’s top brass enjoys the Elite Traveler private jet lifestyle, with details of their private jet use from S-1 filings. However, Mark Zuckerberg isn’t the only youngster that has a thick wallet and likes to be up in the air without the down market experience of U.S. commercial aviation travel.
Ekaterina Rybolovleva, the 22-year-old daughter of Russian billionaire Dmitriy Rybolovlev, is spending $88 million for a New York City apartment. Interestingly she is attending university in the U.S. in another undisclosed location, so she “plans to stay in the apartment when visiting New York,” according to Forbes Magazine.
While her father may be from Russia, Ekaterina is a citizen of Monaco and is know to reside part time between the Principality and Switzerland. The apartment has 10 rooms including 4 bedrooms, a wraparound terrace of more than 2,000 sq. feet, and 2 wood burning fireplaces.
However, if you want more on young faces living the Elite Traveler life, Petra Ecclestone (daughter of UK Formula One billionaire Bernie Ecclestone) according to Forbes, paid $85 million for Spelling Manor, the 56,500-square foot mansion that was previously owned by Candy Spelling, widow of famed TV producer Aaron Spelling, whose works include the “Beverly Hills 90210,” “Charlie’s Angels,” and “Dynasty” series.
Of course, like Zuckerberg, Rybolovleva and everyone who lives the private jet lifestyle, we like to underscore that for these folks, the private jet is their living room, making Elite Traveler’s BPA audited circulation around the globe to private jets and private jet terminals the best way to make sure your brand is top of mind with our over 630,000 readers like them..

2. Diamonds are Forever, Money Isn’t
Wall Street Journal Wealth Report Robert Frank’s new book speaks to the fact that today’s centimillionaire could be tomorrow’s Jet Blue customer. Great wealth, Frank notes, comes and goes for those whose ambitions overextend their lines of credit or get crunched with bad timing, bad luck or all three.
Frank’s point makes Elite Traveler’s private jet distribution all the more valuable as it ensures you are reaching consumers who, as they read our magazine, are financially qualified to be your customers. As one private jet executive quipped, “I haven’t seen any poor people on a private jet lately.”
Frank cites California, where according to data just released from the California Taxpayers Association, the number of Californians earning $500,000 or more fell by nearly a third between 2007 and 2009 shrinking to 98,610 from 146,221 in 2007. 2009 is the most recent data available.
For those of you who wonder if the rich do contribute their fair share, consider in 2007, the top 1% of California earners paid about half of the state’s income taxes.

3. Aspen Median House Hits $6 Million
Thanks again to Robert Frank, I saw an interesting piece in his Wealth Blog on WSJ.com.
He notes that the median home price in Aspen now tops $6 million – what’s equally interesting is that the time spent by the owner in the house is less than a month, actually closer to three weeks according to Frank’s piece. His article reviewed a current conflict between full year locals and an UHNW who wants to build a 7,000 square foot penthouse atop a historical building in downtown.
For marketers, it also emphasizes that UHNW “Traveling Luxury Consumers” are a constantly moving target. With some 41 trips per year, and over 100 flights, according to the National Business Aviation Association, each elite traveler makes some 17 flights every two month publishing cycle of Elite Traveler. With our BPA audited circulation, it means we deliver your advertising message to the living room of our readers – their private jets. With our distribution in over 100 countries it means wherever in the world they happen to be, you can be assured Elite Traveler will be there for them. This includes distribution via private jet terminals, corporate flight departments, management companies, private jet caterers, fractional share providers and other channels we’ve developed to get these heavy spenders of luxury their copies of Elite Traveler.

4. Robb Report Editor Endorses the Private Jet Lifestyle…
When the Editor of newsstand/subscription magazine Robb Report endorsed private jet travel as the way to go if you are rich enough, we wanted to say thanks.
“Time is the greatest luxury, and that’s the beauty of private aviation,” Larry Bean, executive editor of Robb Report told Reuters, “If you have the means to afford it, why wouldn’t you use a private jet?”
We couldn’t agree more. Private jets have become the chariot of choice with UHNWs, and Elite Traveler’s distribution in over 100 countries means we capture UHNWs where ever they happen to be on private jetting!
