Football is big business in Germany.
The Bundesliga is one of the top three national football leagues in Europe and commands the highest attendance figures in the world. As Germany’s performance at the 2010 FIFA World Cup proves, the country has some of the best young players on the planet, and the DFB (German Football Federation) Cup Final saw 22 of them in action. The final at Berlin’s Olympic Stadium was a major date in the sporting calendar and tickets were like gold dust. The setting is a tourist magnet in its own right – built for the 1936 Olympics, the famous stadium underwent a thorough revamp for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, and the new VIP boxes offered the perfect vantage point to watch the drama unfold. Bayern Munich managed to beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0, with both the goals scored in extra-time.
