There is a reason advent calendars have survived well into adulthood: as children, you’re typically happy enough to discover a small piece of candy behind a cardboard opening.

When do luxury advent calendars go on sale?
Much earlier than you might expect. This year, the first offerings began appearing from August, with the majority launching from September onward. Some brands opened waitlists as early as the summer, and others, like Liberty of London’s beauty advent calendar, are already flying off the virtual shelves.

What’s the most expensive advent calendar?
The record-holder is a one-off calendar created by British designer Debbie Wingham, valued at around $10.3m. It was commissioned in 2021 for a Swiss family and was built around their plans to travel the world over the following year. It was made from reclaimed ebony and behind its windows were elaborate gifts and artworks, including diamond-encrusted pieces, luxury luggage, and Ferrari-themed artwork.
Sisley Paris

For someone who likes their beauty with a little personality, look to Sisley Paris, who has invited Parisian artist Marie-Victoire de Bascher to create a one-of-a-kind advent calendar for 2026. Her illustrations depict Paris as a garden, with flowers winding around the Eiffel Tower and a burst of fireworks overhead. Each drawer opens onto another playful floral scene and a Sisley product, ranging from skincare and makeup to fragrance and haircare.
The calendar includes 25 products, with several full-size favorites such as Lyslait Cleansing Milk, Phyto-Rouge Lipstick in Rose Nouméa, Floral Toning Lotion, Phyto-Noir Mascara, Nutritive Lip Balm, and Express Flower Gel, alongside a selection of Sisleÿa, Black Rose, and other signature brand treatments.

Penhaligon's The Advent Calendar
Luxury fragrance maker Penhaligon’s has brought together 24 old favorites (including a 30ml Halfeti) and new discoveries in its 2026 advent calendar. Signatures include Luna, The Favourite, Empressa, Blenheim Bouquet, Juniper Sling, and the newer Vra Vra Vroom, as well as scented candles, hand soaps, and body lotion. This year’s design takes its cue from stacked vintage travel trunks and the golden age of train travel, when getting there was an occasion in itself. Each box is designed as a mini knitted trunk; some even come with a festive motif.

Highlights include the Dalmore 45 Year Old 1966 (cask 7), Glenfiddich Grand Château 31 Year Old, Macallan 32 Year Old 1992 Single Cask (Master of Malt), The Balvenie 40 Year Old, and a Yamazaki 18 Year Old Mizunara. For Christmas treats of this caliber, flimsy paper doors simply won’t do. The calendar, more akin to a cabinet, is crafted from black oak and walnut, with suede linings and a moleskin dust cover, evoking an antique apothecary chest. It also includes detailed tasting notes and two Riedel glasses.

Particularly suited to anyone who takes their Christmas decorations – and their bath routine – seriously, Rituals has elevated this year’s advent calendar into a small festive train with 24 carriages to open throughout December.
Inside are a mix of favorites covering most of the usual suspects that Rituals is best known for: shampoo and conditioner, shower oils and foams, body creams, fragrance, and candles. A few less expected additions are also in the mix, including self-tanning drops, a body mist, and even scented car wipes. The calendar is worth more than £1,300 (approx. $1,757), making this Liberty’s most valuable edition yet. It has also sold out for 11 consecutive years, so we don’t suggest waiting until December to order it.
