Puerto Vallarta was one of the destinations featured in Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto’s speech at this year’s Tianguis Turistico, Mexico’s Premiere Travel and Tourism conference, held in Cancun and Riviera Maya earlier this month. As one of the country’s most popular international tourist destinations, from 2014-2018 Puerto Vallarta will receive almost a billion pesos as part of the country’s National Infrastructure Program with similar amounts budgeted for the new marine terminal as well as 500 million pesos for the restoration and preservation of the city’s colonial center.
As part of the Federal Government’s Communication and Transportation initiatives, 68 million pesos will also be used to expand the Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR) with new terminals and a satellite platform.
The program also includes an investment of six million pesos to address eroding beaches in Puerto Vallarta and three million to revitalize areas with greater influx of tourists, including the boardwalk , historic downtown and access to beaches .
