Mercedes Abramo is the new CEO for Cartier in North America, based in New York. She replaces Emmanuel Perrin who has been in the role since January 2010. He moves to Geneva where he will take a senior global position with the brand.
While Perrin has spent his career with parent Richemont in roles that have taken him to around the world as well as to sister brands Van Cleef & Arpels, Piaget and Vacheron Constantin, Abramo’s career began in the hospitality business at several Miami luxury resorts before climbing the ladder at Tiffany & Co. She joined Cartier in 2008 running its legendary flagship store on Fifth Avenue before rising to Vice President, Retail.
With Cartier recently closing the store it bought in 1917 in exchange for a pearl necklace, Abramo will have about two years to plan its re-opening during the renovation.
