Most visitors come not for the palace but the spectacular adjoining 1936 property.

This beautiful site offers two stunning pieces of architecture for the price of one. The first is the original Eltham Palace, built by the Tudors complete with a moat and a Grand Hall. These days, however, most come for the adjoining property, which was built in 1936 and is one of the best examples of art deco architecture in London. Stephen Courtauld built the adjoining property as an ode to his love of the finer things. Much of the original design remains including pink leather chairs and beautiful vaulted bathrooms.
