Proclaimed a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1996, Schönbrunn Palace is one of Austria’s most celebrated and beloved monuments, and one of the most iconic relics of Habsburg Austria.

A glamorous summer residence for the emperors set within vast green acres of imperial hunting grounds, Schönbrunn brims with wide, vast halls, precious antiques and imposing royal portraits, as well as idyllic landscaped gardens, neo-classical sculptures and even the world’s first zoo. A truly exclusive experience of this breathtaking palace complex can be enjoyed with a private, after-hours tour, or even a private event. Café Sacher

The original Sacher-Torte at Café Sacher

Vienna is renowned for having some of the most exceptional coffee houses in the world, and its strong tradition of coffee and cake is one that absolutely must be sampled.

The city is brimming with charming, elegant and historic spots to partake of this delectable heritage, but a couple deserve particular mention. The site occupied by Café Mozart has hosted a café for some 200 years, but first became known in the 19th century as a meeting place for the great artists and thinkers of the day, in a prime artistic location opposite the Albertina Museum, and close to the opera house. A resplendent, welcoming interior, all gleaming wood, winking chandeliers and cozy private booths, evokes the irresistible allure of classic, old-world Vienna. The delicious coffee and sweet treats on the menu complete what is a quintessential Viennese experience. Meanwhile, a trip to Vienna is incomplete until you have visited Café Sacher. The café that served the original Sacher-Torte is one of the most celebrated coffee houses in the city. Part of classic luxury haven Hotel Sacher, the café’s beautiful interior is as elegant and glamorous as the rest of the hotel, and it offers a stunning garden and summer terrace, crowned with magnificent views of the opera house.

HOFBURG IMPERIAL PALACE

The Hofburg Palace is the jewel in the crown of Austria’s imperial heritage.

This vast, magnificent residence has housed extravagant emperors and powerful generals since the 13th century, and today is home to the President of Austria. Each year the Hofburg Palace receives thousands of visitors, who marvel at its majestic halls, opulent Imperial Apartments, grand Imperial Silver Collection and the fascinating Sisi Museum, dedicated to the life of Empress Elisabeth. Highly recommended for both its historical interest and sheer, epic beauty, the Hofburg is a must-visit on any trip to Vienna. Private and evening tours outside regular opening hours are available, so you can enjoy all of its grandeur and splendor in true VIP style. Also situated within the Hofburg complex is the world-famous Spanish Riding School, one of the most esteemed equestrian institutes in the world, where elite Lipizzaner stallions and their riders give spectacular dressage performances in a stunning Baroque environment. Traditionally, the School was also the venue for magnificent events hosted by the imperial court, and has lately revived this tradition with the annual, summertime Fête Impériale, an elite and exclusive addition to the Viennese ball season.

THE BELVEDERE

A spectacular taste of the art and splendor of Baroque Vienna can be found at the city’s world-famous Belvedere complex.

The Upper and Lower Belvedere, two impressive 18th century palaces, are located in stunning gardens and offer splendid views of the city. What really sets the Belvedere apart in a city full of Baroque magnificence, however, is its collection of Gustav Klimt paintings – the largest in the world. Klimt fans will find the vaulted environs of the Upper Belvedere the perfect foil and setting for many of the artist’s most famous masterpieces – including the iconic The Kiss. Art lovers will also enjoy the impressive collection of miscellaneous Austrian art from the Middle Ages to the present day, some of which is displayed in the former palace stables.
