Bespoke luxury travel outfitter Black Tomato has launched Epic Tomato, an ancillary that will focus on customized itineraries to geographically extreme locations. Guests choose from five “terrain” categories: jungle, desert, mountain, polar and rivers. Expedition experts who have lived in the wild and have SAS military training accompany visitors.
The roster of audacious journeys has been experienced only by an infinitesimal number of people. Intrepid guests can pull arctic sleds called pulks through unmapped tracts of the Antarctic; forge trails through dense, ancient jungles in Borneo; trek across the isolated Duke of York Islands in Papua New Guinea, where tribes exchange shell currency; or follow in the formidable footsteps of Winston Churchill and kayak the White Nile in Uganda.
