The 12th Annual FGI Rising Stars Award luncheon at the Rainbow Room – FGI is an organization that honors and supports the creativity and acumen of the emerging young talents, destined to ensure the growth and future of fashion related industries. Twenty-six year old winner Christian Cota launched his impressive line in 2007; one which balances elegance with detail, blending organic forms and clean shapes for an edgier and expressionistic aesthetic. Cota’s passion for design is evident in his detail driven fabrics and innovative hand embroideries. Among the presenters this year were Philip Lim, Tory Burch and Jane Lauder.
Last years women’s wear winner was Jason Wu, recently acclaimed for designing Michelle Obama’s Inaugural Gala gown. Cota will be presenting his Fall 09 Collection on February 13th 2009.
