The new “Peace Be within thy Palaces – Jerusalem Antiquities at the Israel Knesset” archaeological garden opened last month on the grounds of Israel’s parliament in Jerusalem.
The garden features more than fifty artifacts ranging in date from the Second Temple period to the Ottoman period, including a 2,000-year-old stone from the Second Temple Mount wall, an ancient olive press, mosaics and an Ottoman sabil, or drinking device.
“The new archaeological garden will provide visitors to Israel with an exciting contrast to the bustling activity of the Knesset,” says Arie Sommer, Commissioner of Tourism, North and South America. “It will surely contribute to the list of amazing archaeological sites around Israel.”
The archaeological garden also features a visitors’ path decorated with flora that are characteristic of Israel in ancient times.
