New Winery at Chateau Margaux

By Zahra Al-Kateb

New Winery Image 2The 17th century wine estate Château Margaux in Bordeaux has reopened after a major architectural revamp by Lord Norman Foster’s company Foster + Partners.

The ancient orangery, the oldest structure on the 650-acre estate, has been refurbished and a winery, Nouveau Chai has also been built – the fi rst new structure to be built on the site in 200 years.

New Winery Image 1When you’re there, stop by the estate’s impressive wine cellar where the humidity level sits around 80% to prevent the corks from drying out. Call ahead to arrange a private tour and wine tasting session. Or better yet, the château manager Giles Jourdan and his wife Catherine have been known to prepare wine-paired suppers for select guests.
