Taj Hotels Environmental Team Works On Ganges Clean-Up

By Pardhasaradhi Gonuguntla

As part of Taj Hotels’ EARTH initiative, Taj Hotels’ employees volunteered to be part of a seven-member team that embarked on a clean-up expedition of the Gangotri Glacier, the source of the Ganges River.

Battling extreme weather conditions and surviving sub-zero temperatures, the team set a world record by climbing the 21,364 feet Mt. Bhagirathi II peak in seven days.

The team collected and cleared away approximately 220 pounds of metal scrap, butane-propane fuel canisters, tins, abandoned camping equipment, plastic bottles, and plastic bags.
