Louis Moinet Memoris Scarab Wings (2020)

In ancient Egypt, the scarab, or beetle, was considered the incarnation of the sun god and was good luck.

Even if you don’t like bugs, you will be hard-pressed not to love the unique new Louis Moinet Memoris Scarab Wings watch. While the entire mainplate and outer minute track are crafted in bold green, the smaller hour and minute dial at 6:00 is made using scarab wings. In ancient Egypt, the scarab, or beetle, was considered the incarnation of the sun god and was good luck. This dial is a marquetry of 12 Indonesian Sternocera Aequisignata scarab beetle elytra elements. This beetle has an exceptionally brilliant green metallic color, yielding shimmering beauty. Louis Moinet is quick to say that no beetles are killed for the making of this one-of-a-kind, open-worked chronograph. It is powered by a 500-part, single-pusher column-wheel chronograph movement.
