BOVET

By Chris Boyle

190 YEARS OF CRAFTSMANSHIP

Pascal Raffy, Owner Of Bovet

Since its foundation in 1822, the house of BOVET has embodied the excellence of all watchmaking arts.

Engraving, miniature painting and encrustation of the rarest gems have for two centuries gone hand in hand with the most refined horological mechanisms. When Pascal Raffy, the owner of BOVET 1822, acquired DIMIER 1738, Manufacture de Haute Horlogerie Artisanal in 2006, he took the mastery of complications to a new pinnacle of achievement, while at the same time consolidating the values and traditions of this artisanal savoir faire. This philosophy resulted in 2010 in the appearance of the AMADEO® case which adorns the entire Fleurier collection. This original concept allows owners to convert their timepiece into a wristwatch, a pendant watch or a pocket watch, as well as a miniature table clock. As the house celebrates its 190th anniversary, the collections presented this year pay homage to its historic past while laying a solid foundation for an enchanting future.

AMADEO  FLEURIER 0 TOURBILLON WITH REVERSED HAND-FITTING AND HAND-CHISELED CASE

Amadeo Fleurier Tourbillon with reversed hand-fitting and hand-chiseled case

As attested by the new position of the tourbillon carriage, an entirely new movement beats at the heart of this timepiece.

This new geometry has made it possible to improve the piece’s timekeeping qualities, while offering visual and symmetrical refinement that elevates its handcrafted decorative work to a higher level. The watch features the AMADEO® case, which allows the timepiece to be converted into a miniature table clock, a pocket watch or a reversible wristwatch without using any tools ($279,100).

FLEURIER AMADEO TOURBILLON GRANDE DATE 5-DAY REVERSED HAND-FITTING

Fleurier Amadeo Tourbillon Grande Date 5-Day Reversed Hand-Fitting

This year Bovet introduces a new reference to its Grandes Complications collection with the tourbillon Gande Date with fiveday power reserve and reversed hands-fitting.

Taking on iterations as a reversible wristwatch, miniature table clock, pocket watch and a reversed wristwatch, this 44mm timepiece with a hand-wound tourbillon is able to change form via a regulating organ driven by a tourbillon cage. Studded with 49 gems, the watch comes with a fullskin alligator bracelet and is available in 18K red or white gold (red gold: $234,000; white gold: $247,000).

AMADEO RISING STAR TOURBILLON WITH TRIPLE TIME ZONES AND REVERSED HAND-FITTING

Amadeo Rising Star Tourbillon With Triple Time Zones And Reversed Hand-Fitting

Rising Star stands out as the jewel in the crown of the Grand Complications collection.

It offers a redesigned tourbillon movement, as the tourbillon carriage has been extended to a diameter of 13.50 mm. The carriage now appears to be suspended in mid air. The rest of the movement makes use of the surface provided by two three-quarter plates, between which watchmakers have succeeded in integrating highly useful mechanisms and indications. The two secondary time zones are located at nine o’clock and three o’clock and are supplemented respectively by the invaluable indication of one of 24 cities corresponding to the time zone displayed, added to which are two day/night indicators. The vertical axis also shows the hours and minutes of the local time zone (in the center) a power reserve at twelve o’clock and the seconds hand carried by the upper pivot of the tourbillon carriage at six o’clock.

Rising Star is produced in a limited edition of 190 pieces. Additionally, nine pairs of unique pieces feature movement-side dials decorated with miniature paintings reprising the themes of enamels displayed on historic timepieces from the 19th century found in BOVET’s private collections.

AMADEO 39 / JOAILLERIE“ROSE”

Amadeo 39 Joaillerie "Rose"

The delicate mother-of-pearl dial displays a rose flower set with 94 roundcut diamonds that appear to bloom radiantly.

Either a necklace or bracelet consisting of 80 or 140 Akoya pearls and 24 gold spheres, each set with 22 diamonds, will accentuate its wearer’s elegance. Both timepiece and jewels, Fleurier 39 Joaillerie, also available in red gold with white pearls, effortlessly adapts to the multifaceted personality of the woman it belongs to (with rhodium-plated necklace: $71,300; optional pearl and diamond bracelet: $66,000; optional pearl and diamond necklace: $66,000).

DIMIER COLLECTION, RECITAL 8

Dimier Collection, Recital 8

This exceptional timepiece displays the time in two time-zones simultaneously.

Furthermore, indication of the second time zone is coupled with a day/night indicator and a cities disk indexed to all 24 existing time zones. Naturally, the decorative work and finish of this movement left no room for compromise. The white motherof- pearl dials contrast harmoniously with circular anthracite Côtes de Genève decorations. The tourbillon carriage, meanwhile, appears literally to be suspended by the generous bridge that carries it ($240,000).

DESIGNED BY PININFARINA COLLECTION, TOURBILLON OTTANTADUE

Tourbillon Ottantadue

In the second tourbillon designed by Pininfarina, the carriage has been extended to a diameter of 13.50 mm and is located at six o’clock, its revolutions rated to 60 seconds so that it can carry the seconds hand, completing the indications of hours, minutes and seven-day power reserve.

The timepiece can be worn with either face displayed, since the movement also incorporates reversed hand-fitting showing the time on an additional offset dial, leaving space for the remarkable mechanical architecture. Available in a limited edition of 82 timepieces ($198,500).

DESIGNED BY PININFARINA COLLECTION, CHRONOGRAPH CAMBIANO CAMBIANO

Chronograph Cambiano Cambiano, A Pininfarina Collection

This year the collaboration between BOVET and Pininfarina takes a new direction with a concept car that has a special edition Chronograph Cambiano as its clock.

When the driver leaves the vehicle, it takes only a few seconds to convert the dashboard clock into a wristwatch. The timepiece features the same superior-quality materials that embellish the vehicle’s passenger compartment. Setting it wholly apart, the car has a parquet floor made of solid oak sourced from piles on which the city of Venice is built. The same wood, renowned for its solidity and stability, has been used to manufacture the counters of the Chronograph Cambiano ($33,000).
