Ascot, UK – Reported by Elite Traveler, the private jet lifestyle magazine
Dorchester Collection country house hotel and spa Coworth Park has introduced the Guards Polo Academy. Based in Royal Berkshire, the academy will give guests the opportunity to learn and train with one of Britain’s most distinguished polo players, Andrew Hine.
The only player to have both captained and managed the English national polo team—now also based at Coworth Park—Andrew Hine has celebrated numerous polo victories around the world. The new academy will offer guests polo tuition from both Hine and his team of leading polo coaches who currently coach high-goal team Zacara, the winners of the prestigious British Open Championship in 2011.
Neil Hobday, Chief Executive of Guards Polo Club said, “The creation of Guards Polo Academy at Coworth Park’ will enable us to provide a complete package to our members – offering them the best fixture list, the best club facilities and now the best training.”
Already a top UK destination for equestrian recreation, the Academy at Coworth Park will provide both corporate and private leisure experiences to allow polo enthusiasts of all levels to get a taste of world-class polo and also to introduce this ever more popular sport to non-players.
Andrew Hine commented, “I am delighted to be bringing my academy to Coworth Park. Polo is one of the very few sports where players can enjoy all the best elements of activity simultaneously: adrenalin; contact; teamwork and coordination skills – continuously heightened by the speed, strength and the agility of the pony.”
The wide array of lessons on offer will include private tuition and group lessons, as well as a number of half or full day Discover Polo experiences. Individual clients will have the option of bespoke polo experiences completely structured to their own tastes and level. For the more serious player, instructional chukkas (periods within a polo game) will be available, as well as three-day elite courses over the course of the summer.
Zoe Jenkins, General Manager of Coworth Park, said: “We are thrilled to be building on the hotel’s unique polo offering in the United Kingdom, providing the best experiences for our guests and introducing this exhilarating and cosmopolitan sport to a new audience.”
Guests at Coworth Park and members of the Guards Polo Club will receive preferential rates but must be over ten years of age to participate.
