The Alpina Gstaad Debuts New Suite

By Chris Boyle

Panorama Suite The Alpina GstaadThe award-winning Alpina Gstaad will debut a stunning new five-bedroom, six-bath suite on December 15. Gstaad’s newest luxury hotel in 100 years is looking forward to a second successful season and is already booked for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

Located on the ground floor with two expansive terraces and superb views of the surrounding mountains, the 9,150-square-foot Alpina Suite has its own private gardens with whirlpools and features direct access to the hotel and to the Six Senses Spa.

A large foyer opens on to a 65-foot long gallery that leads to a very spacious living room with a bar and lounge.  Fourteen arched floor-to-ceiling windows in the rotunda-like living room give direct access to the west-facing terrace.  Other features include a library with fireplace and a state-of-the-art kitchen with dining area.

The Master Suite and the other four bedrooms all feature dressing rooms and walk-in closets.  Two double rooms connect to the master suite, making them convenient for guests with children.

In creating this new suite, HBA London continued with its contemporary interpretation of traditional Swiss chalet architecture using local materials from the Bernese Oberland, stone from the surrounding Alps and weathered timber from centuries-old farmhouses in Saanenland.

Lined with antique fir wood, the Alpina Suite is cozy and very comfortable with oversized leather chairs and large down-filled sofas.  Bespoke modern furniture and pieces by Holly Hunt, Minotti, Kettall and Stephane Duceteau provide elegant modern accents.

“We have families staying during the holidays and our Panorama Suite is always the first to sell out,” explained Managing Director Eric Favre.  “The new Alpina Suite will give our guests another very comfortable option.”

The rate for the Alpina Suite starts at CHF 20,000, varying with the seasons and includes the following:

  • In room or buffet breakfast at Restaurant Sommet
  • Daily culinary resort credit of CHF100 per person
  • Mini fridge with complimentary wine, soft drinks & spirits restocked daily
  • Guaranteed reservations at Restaurant Sommet
  • Free use of any all terrain vehicles (Range Rover or Land Rover)
  • Transfers to and from Gstaad shopping area, railway station, ski lifts
  • Two fully equipped studios with bath for employees (hotel basement)
  • Free parking (six private parking spaces in underground garage)

All taxes, service charges and VAT.
