In this stretch of Beverly Hills, even the houses have star power – and have to compete for the spotlight. So when we see a property with one of the most exclusive postcodes in the country – nigh the world – within the Mandarin Oriental, Beverly Hills Residences has come available, that’s one way to catch our eye. Mention it is furnished by B&B Italia – the prestigious Italian furniture company whose pieces are practically the pinnacle of luxury – and you certainly have captured our attention.
The luxury apartment, known by its official address as the 502E residence, is found on the fifth floor of the Mandarin Oriental Residences, amid another 54 standalone properties that have each been developed by SHVO.
It is B&B Italia’s first turnkey residence on the West Coast, and the Mandarin Oriental makes some location for a debut. As the global leading supplier of high-quality modern and contemporary furniture, working in partnership with one of the world’s leading luxury hotel brands, it may come as no surprise that the property’s interiors are nothing short of stunning.

The property opens up to an open-plan living and dining space, making use of its floor-to-ceiling windows that not only welcome the California sun but offer expansive views of Palm Drive. Throughout the property, B&B Italia took inspiration from the landscape of Los Angeles, incorporating a light and airy color palette that evokes the soft sands and warm whites of the West Coast.
Anchoring the living space is the design classic 1970 Camaleonda sofa by Mario Bellini, its calming sage green hue reflecting the abundance of palm trees seen from the windows. The Camaleonda has been beloved for 50 years for good reason, as the adaptable cushions mean it can be reconfigured to suit the changing needs of the space.
Moving behind to the kitchen, the space has been custom-made by Molteni & C, and is fully fitted with Miele appliances, including a hidden wine fridge. The huge island is made from Turkish marble counters, selected by SHVO, and forms a breakfast bar to offer a more informal dining space.

In the primary bedroom, Italia B&B took inspiration for the color palette from the room’s showstopper, the unmistakable Aly bed, designed by Gabriele & Oscar Buratti. The bed’s earthy taupe hue works against the chalk white of the accent walls, creating a space that is welcoming and instantly relaxing.
In addition to two further bedrooms, the property also offers a home office that allows for work and play with ease. The embedded bookcase that spans the room’s length side comes from London-based designer Michael Anastasiades and stands alone as a striking feature wall.
While most of the property is the picture-perfect definition of the neutral minimal trend, the property’s smaller spaces, such as the primary ensuite, created the ideal opportunity for B&B Italia to be more playful. The choice of the bathroom’s geometric patterned wallpaper and a striking marble vanity sink create a space that is braver, bolder and more playful.
Of course, the home’s design is only one element of the luxury on offer here. As part of the Mandarin Oriental, residents can enjoy the full spectrum of amenities and facilities on offer at the luxury hotel, including the private 40 ft rooftop pool, a residents-only fitness and wellness area, and a dedicated team of Mandarin Oriental staff on hand to manage daily life.
