The Suite
Positioned at the water's edge and overlooking Charleston Harbor, The Cooper's Presidential Suite translates the hotel's coastal aesthetic into its most expansive accommodation. At 1,427 sq ft, the one-bedroom suite combines generous entertaining space with a residential feel, drawing inspiration from the refined waterfront homes that line the South Carolina coast.
Natural materials and soft textures define the interiors. Wide-plank light oak flooring, shiplap wall paneling, woven accents, and a palette of creams, grays, and muted blues create a calming atmosphere, while an art collection inspired by the surrounding landscape reinforces the connection to the harbor outside. Works depicting rolling waves, aerial views of Lowcountry marshlands, and nautical motifs, giving the suite a distinct taste of local Charleston character.
The layout includes a king bedroom, separate living room with sofa bed, dining area, wet bar, butler's pantry, and two bathrooms, including a spacious primary bathroom with a soaking tub, walk-in shower, and double vanity. Accommodating up to four guests, the suite can also connect to a Double Queen room to create a larger family-friendly configuration for up to six.
Its defining feature, however, is the outdoor space. A private patio with seating opens directly onto the rooftop pool terrace. Whether enjoying a quiet morning overlooking the Cooper River or returning from an afternoon by the pool, the suite offers a sense of indoor-outdoor living.
Guests benefit from The Cooper's highly personalized service model, with a dedicated guest experience team and personal concierge available before arrival and throughout the stay. From tailored dining reservations to bespoke local recommendations, every detail is designed to feel as much about taking in the hotel’s surroundings as the accommodation itself.

The Hotel
Charleston has never lacked beautiful, historic hotels, but The Cooper brings a fresh perspective to one of the South's most charming destinations. As the only luxury hotel that opens directly onto the city’s waterfront, the property turns its attention away from the pastel façades and church steeples that typically define the destination, instead drawing inspiration from the rivers, marshlands, and maritime traditions that have shaped Lowcountry life for centuries.
The connection is apparent from the moment of arrival. A tree-lined drive of crepe myrtles leads to a harborfront setting where interiors borrow as much from classic yachts as they do Southern residences. Teak flooring, polished nickel accents, lacquered blue ceilings, and sweeping views across the water create a subtle nautical atmosphere, while details inspired by Charleston's celebrated sweetgrass basketry add a local touch.
Dining centers around The Crossing, a Mediterranean restaurant that pairs coastal influences with ingredients sourced from the Carolinas. Designed around the idea of leisurely, shared meals, the restaurant features an open kitchen, raw bar, and tableside service, all set against a backdrop of waterfront views. Elsewhere, Bar Marti brings a more relaxed energy to the fourth floor, serving cocktails and light bites beside the pool with Charleston Harbor stretching beyond.
The relationship with the water extends throughout the property. A waterfront saltwater infinity pool overlooks the marina, while landscaped outdoor spaces connect directly to the city's harborfront promenade, encouraging guests to spend as much time outside as they do indoors.
There is also a 7,000-sq-ft spa that combines traditional treatments with hydrothermal experiences, recovery-focused technology, and dedicated relaxation spaces. Together with its prime waterfront location, The Cooper offers a side of Charleston that visitors rarely experience, placing the city's maritime heritage front and center.
