The Suite
You don’t get much more central than the Flatiron District with some of New York City’s best dining and shopping right on your doorstep. Of course, this desirable part of town is also known for its turn-of-the-century architecture, and The New York EDITION is housed in one of the neighborhood’s most famed Beaux-Arts specimens, with designer David Rockwell and founder of EDITION hotels Ian Schrager transforming the 110-year-old Metropolitan Life Insurance Company’s headquarters into a luxury boutique-style hotel.
Once the tallest building in the world (albeit only for four years when the Woolworth building overtook it in 1913), the 50-story, 700-ft tall clock tower now houses 271 chic rooms. Skyline views are galore, spanning from Madison Square Park across the street to the Empire State Building and beyond.
At 1,350 sq ft, the Penthouse Suite is The New York EDITION’s biggest standalone suite by some margin (the next closest is under 1,000 sq ft) and has the aura of a luxury apartment. You can increase your haute city living even further by connecting the adjoining rooms.
Modern interiors of ivories and whites are warmed by natural wood tones in beech and espresso, illuminated through an abundance of windows offering 180-degree skyline views, framed by soft columns of silver drapery.
Retro prints by renowned fashion photographer Melvin Sokolsky hang on the walls and a separate dining room seats eight, whilst a substantial kitchenette offers both style and substance. There is also a separate guest half-bathroom.
The master bedroom features a king-sized bed dressed in classic white linens, whilst the master bathroom is crafted from natural stone and features a rainforest shower and oversized soaking tub with custom Le Labo amenities.

What separates this suite from anything else on offer in the city?
Design and location are two key components that give our hotel and its Penthouses their unique brilliance. In design, the hotel is the landmarked clocktower building that was reimagined and converted in the boutique luxury style of Ian Schrager. The interior finishes evoke the feeling of a sophisticated modern residence. The Penthouse's footprint equals the entire west half of the floor it is on, providing 180-degree views of the city through its expansive windows.
