Mumbai is generally hot and humid throughout the year. The best time to travel to the city is in winter – between November and February – when the weather is much cooler and less humid.

When visiting temples visitors must remove their footwear and cover their heads. In general women should dress conservatively to respect local sensibilities and to avoid unwanted attention. Social order and status are very important in Indian culture. There is a ban on smoking in public places.
