The hotly-anticipated InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort will open its doors on September 1st, the luxury hotel group has confirmed.
Located at the southern tip of Raa Atoll, the resort is a 35-minute seaplane flight from Male International Airport, which will offer guests the chance to experience the Maldives in all its glory before they have even arrived.
The property’s 81 villas and residences are located on the beachfront, the lagoon and built on stilts over the water. Each comes with its own private terrace and pool and offers unobstructed views across the Indian Ocean.
As the first InterContinental property in the Maldives, its opening will be marked with the simultaneous launch of their new All-Club InterContinental experience.
This service sets a new standard of luxury for the brand by offering guests thoughtfully elevated personalized service and exclusive benefits throughout the island, including complimentary gourmet experiences.
Speaking of gourmet experiences, the resort will feature six gastronomic concepts including The Retreat, an adults-only escape featuring a water-side infinity pool and an opulent private bar.
The hotel has been designed to make sure guests are never far away from the natural environment, and that includes the signature AVI Spa. It consists of six overwater treatment villas, each allowing guests to take in stunning views.
It is one of the closest resorts to the Maldives’ only UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve and home of Hanifaru Bay. Visitors come to this area to snorkel alongside whale sharks and reef manta rays.
In an attempt to keep the resort’s surrounding environment in pristine condition, InterContinental Maldives has partnered with Manta Trust in support of the Maldivian Manta Ray Project, which aims to nurture a safe habitat for all wildlife on the archipelago.
The resort is now accepting bookings for stays with opening privileges from September 1 2019 until 31 January 2020 via intercontinental.com/maldives.
