The Hilltop Villas are, as the name suggests, on top of a winding, forested hill and set away from the rest of the resort. There are eight Hilltop Villas to choose from, and these one-and-two-bedroom villas are sleek and elegant with a contemporary interior design. As these villas are built onto the granite rocks, the views out to Port Launay Marine park are stunning. The presidential villa measures an enormous 10,550 sq ft and has three bedrooms (each with an ensuite), private gym, spa with sauna and hammam, two swimming pool, large living space, dining room for eight people and plenty of alfresco dining spaces.

Constance Ephelia’s spa, U Spa by Constance, is the largest spa in the Indian Ocean. It’s easy to spend an entire day luxuriating on one of the sunbeds that appear to be floating on the infinity pool, or enjoying the spacious thermal bath. There is also a sizeable hot tub, steam room, sauna and a refreshing cold plunge pool. The spa has 18 treatment suites including couples’ suites and an extensive treatment menu. If you want to take something home, there is a selection of hand-made products from a local company that uses Seychellois-grown ingredients.

While the Seychelles might conjure up images of days spent on a glorious rotation of sunbathing and swimming, Constance Ephelia has a plethora of options for those who want to stay active. There is a fully-equipped gym with outdoor swimming pool (personal training sessions and private classes are available). There is also rock climbing and zip wire available — glide through the mangrove forest or claw to the top of a rock face. If that teal ocean is calling your name, the boat house has paddleboards and kayaks, or you can head out on a diving excursion to the nearby Port Launay Marine Park. The Trois Bank is suited for more experienced open-water divers as you’ll descend up to 75 ft to see reef sharks, octopuses, barracuda and moray eels. Beginners courses are available, too, and night-time dives. There’s also a kids’ club for children aged four to 11 years old.

There are five restaurants but be sure to make a reservation to ensure a table, especially at the adults-only restaurant Cyann — be sure to order the beef; it’s so tender you can cut it with a spoon. The other dining options include Helios, which serves generous portions of Mediterranean cuisine; Adam & Eve, which serves South East Asian delights, and Corossol which is the largest of the five and serves breakfast and dinner buffets — ideal if you’re travelling with children as there’s a bountiful spread to suit even the fussiest diner. For a romantic evening, a private dinner can be arranged on the beach.
