PARIS – Guests at Four Seasons Hotel George V now have the pleasure of a unique experience with the world’s only Hermès-inspired hand-built Rolls Royce Phantom. Custom made to the Hotel’s specifications by the famous English luxury car designer in collaboration with legendary French fashion house, Hermès, the partnership has resulted in an amazing automobile that combines elegance, power and comfort. Five drivers have been appointed by the Hotel and specially trained by Rolls Royce to operate the car.
“The Hotel’s goal in commissioning two of the world’s most talented makers of luxury goods to collaborate on the project was to create an experience that is unsurpassed for our guests in Paris ,” said Christopher Norton, Regional Vice President and General Manager of Four Seasons Hotel George V. “This personalized Rolls Royce Phantom represents a marriage of like-minded brands that are single-mindedly focused on the very highest of standards and quality.”
The project, which began in late 2007, benefited from the unique expertise of Four Seasons Hotel George V’s in-house Artistic Director, Jeff Leatham. He chose the colour theme of the automobile to match the Hotel’s personality. The team at Hermès Intérieur & Design conceived and created customized upholstery and accessories to bring its spirit into the car and complement the Rolls Royce’s interior. Two tones of warm grey were chosen for the outside: anthracite and titanium, and a deep rose leaf grey was selected for the entirely leather-clad interior. Key elements of the automobile, such as the steering wheel, and the console for passengers, were added in Hermès gold “Taurillon Plume” calfskin to complement the grey interior.
Adding a romantic touch to the amazing interior is the “starlight headliner”: a canopy consisting of 800 lights on the automobile’s roof liner, for guests in the backseat to enjoy a starry-eyed ambience as they are driven in the City of Lights.
“As it is the hotel’s 80th anniversary this year, it is fitting to introduce an experience that is unique in the world, only available at Four Seasons George V” added Christopher Norton.
Four Seasons Hotel George V followed each step of the fabrication process from the Rolls Royce warehouse of in Goodwood, England to the French ateliers of Hermès in Pantin, France. While the car was being hand built in Goodwood, 39 of its interior duplicate parts, including the door handles, the steering wheel and all interior consoles, were shipped to France and trusted to the expert craftsmen of Hermès.
