Introducing Gulfstream’s Two All-New Business Jets

The new aircraft call on Gulfstream’s wealth of ultramodern technical know-how to expand its family of best-in-class jets.

By Kim Ayling

Gulfstream is cementing its status as a giant in the world of private aviation with the launch of two all-new business jets. Joining its impressive fleet is the Gulfstream G800, which will take the title of the longest-range aircraft in the company’s history, and the G400, which marks the first new entrant into the large-cabin class in over a decade.

Revealed via a global virtual broadcast, the two new aircraft call on Gulfstream’s wealth of ultramodern technical know-how to expand its family of business jets, which currently includes the G650ER, the G550 and the G700. The manufacturer has outlined plans to begin deliveries on the G800 and G400 in 2023 and 2025 respectively, with the G800 priced from $71.5m and the G400 starting at $34.5m.

With the capability to travel 8,000nm at Mach 0.85, the brand new G800 surpasses the G650ER and the G700 in the race to become Gulfstream’s longest-range business jet, allowing for non-stop travel between the world’s major city pairings. Combing high-thrust Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines and Gulfstream’s industry-leading aerodynamic wing designs, the jet can reach a top speed of 0.925 Mach and boasts advanced fuel and emission-saving capabilities.

“We designed the ultralong-range G800 to extend our customers’ reach to more people and places around the world,” said Gulfstream president, Mark Burns. “The G800 redefines what it means to go farther faster in a Gulfstream and offers even more time savings with its impressive range at high speed.”

Inside, the G800’s interiors are as comfortable as the jet is capable, with space up to 19 passengers in either four living spaces, or three guest areas with a crew compartment. The cabin is also designed to be the quietest in business aviation, allowing guests to either relax or catch up on work without disturbance.

Serving a different requirement in the world of private aviation, the new-generation Gulfstream G400 will fit within the large-cabin class. The cabin will be available in three different configurations, with space for up to 12 passengers. Powered by twin Pratt & Whitney engines, the G400 can cover 4,200nm at 0.85 Mach, with a top speed of 0.9 Mach. Best in class environmental performance is achieved thanks to the use of aerodynamic clean-wing technology, which reduces fuels consumption, emission and noise pollution.

“The G400 was conceived and designed with direct customer input. It features revolutionary reliability and safety features we pioneered with our award-winning Symmetry Flight Deck and the largest cabin in its class, making it an outstanding addition to our next-generation fleet,” said Burns. “The aircraft re-envisions this market segment with its maximum operational flexibility and enhanced cabin comfort.”

Both the G400 and G800 also feature advanced health and safety technology, including a constant supply of 100% fresh air and a neutralizing clean sir system which removes 99.9% of airborne bacteria, as well as the lowest cabin altitude in both aircraft’s respective classes.

As part of the launch of its two new business jets, Gulfstream has extended its worldwide headquarters in Savannah, Georgia to accommodate a full-size mock-up of the G400, as well as immersive multi-media content and an interior design display for prospective customers.
