Luxury hotel group Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has recently announced details of a new luxury hotel that is set to open in 2025. Located in the heart of its namesake city, Rosewood Hangzhou will sit within a mixed-use development called Wangjiang New City, which is planned to rejuvenate the city skyline and attract visitors to the area. As part of the development, there will also be a K11 Art Mall, office workspaces, cultural attractions and luxury residences.
Rosewood Hangzhou will be a standalone building within the development, spanning 270,000 sq ft across 16 stories. Upon opening, the hotel will offer a total of 140 rooms including 17 suites, with suite guests able to enjoy access to Rosewood’s signature Manor Club. There will be four new dining options within the hotel including a Chinese restaurant and all-day bistro. Rosewood Hangzhou will also benefit from world-class amenities including a fitness center, meeting and event spaces – including an 8,600-sq-ft ballroom – and an indoor pool.
Behind the design of the new Rosewood Hangzhou is the international architecture studio, Büro Ole Scheeren. The hotel has been designed in line with Rosewood’s commitment to sustainable development and aims to achieve both LEED and WELL certification, meaning it will have a range of sustainable features integrated into the construction processes. Both the building’s architecture and operations aim to advance human health and wellness, while also being environmentally sensitive. Meanwhile, interiors will be created by Shanghai-based studio Neri&Hu.
“We are thrilled to further our presence in China and bring a new level of luxury hospitality to one of its most alluring cities with the addition of Rosewood Hangzhou,” said Sonia Cheng, chief executive officer of Rosewood Hotel Group. “Hangzhou is a prosperous and dynamic city which offers serene natural wonders and rich culture for artistic exploration, as well as a setting for the development of new ideas in business and technology, making it well suited for both leisure and business travelers. The Wangjiang New City development is an exceptional reflection of Hangzhou’s horizons and Rosewood is excited to be a part of the city’s continued growth.”
