Cocktail of the Week: Coal Train

By Emma

Coal Train, The Palazzo, Las Vegas

Coal Train

  • 1.25 oz Michters Rye
  • 0.75 oz Clement 10 yr Rhum Agricole
  • 0.5 oz Tempus Fugit Crème de Banana
  • 0.25 oz Amargo Vallet
  • Lemon twist

    Coal Train

There’s nothing better than a sweet cocktail to transition you from summer to fall. The Palazzo, Las Vegas recently launched a Secret Old Fashioned Cocktail Menu at its cocktail bar, Rosina, on the Las Vegas Strip. Expert mixologists have perfectly paired the glamorous Art Deco-styled aesthetic of the lively bar (think: The Great Gatsby-esque black and gold decor) with cocktails that follow suit. If you plan a visit anytime soon, ask the waiter in true Prohibition style for the secret menu options, which include various old-fashioned-style drinks, such as the Coal Train, Tattle Tale and Kentucky River. Not only will you look like a pro, but they’ll be more than excited to serve up a perfectly tasty drink for you.

If you can’t make it to The Palazzo anytime soon, make Coal Train at home. First add bitters, then the liqueurs, spirit, a big ice cub and stir. Finish with a lemon twist.
