On March 21, 2016, Portfolios with Purpose hosted their 4th Annual Awards Night celebrating the winners of the 2015 Classic Competition, which is an annual stock-picking competition whereby participants compete on behalf of their favorite charity. The event was held at the iconic Museum of the City of New York, overlooking Central Park.
Upon arrival, VIP Sponsor, Lincoln Motor Company, had their 2017 Lincoln MKZ Black Label in chroma caviar parked in front of the Museum for guests to experience. A red carpet lined the stairway as guests made their way inside, where they were then escorted up the spiral marble staircase to the mezzanine level. A cocktail hour kicked off the festivities, with drinks from the Real McCoy Rum, Tito’s Vodka, Brenne Whiskey, the Bronx Brewery, Hint water and Vias Wine. Elite Traveler Magazine, the official media sponsor of the evening, debuted their March/April issue at the event. A silent auction allowed guests to bid on many exclusive items, such as, a trip for two to Napa Valley to judge the 2017 Car of the Year contest, high-end, luxury items from JB Star, Stefano Ricci, and Franck Muller, a helicopter tour from Wings Air, an Italian vacation package, and more. Additionally, guests could enter into a raffle for a chance to win a seven-night Costa Rica Getaway for up to six people valued at approximately $7,000 from Axiom Development Group.
Later, guests were led downstairs to the auditorium where the nine winning players presented their favorite charities with checks amounting to more than $310,000. Following the awards, Scott Wapner of CNBC moderated a fireside chat about the markets with Master Class players Jamie Dinan (CEO of York Capital Management), Marc Lasry (CEO of Avenue Capital Group) and Jason Karp (CEO of Tourbillon Capital Partners).
The night capped off with the drawing of the raffle winner, extended cocktails, dessert from Magnolia Bakery and a coffee bar from Bluestone Lane courtesy of Lincoln Motor Car. Exclusively procured gift bags were handed to guests upon their departure, which included a complimentary Martini Lunch for two at the exclusive Knickerbocker Hotel, Urbani Truffle chocolates, a Lincoln suede bag, and more.
