Rihanna has taken over from French actress Marion Cotillard as the new brand spokesperson for Dior, joining the likes of Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lawrence and Natalie Portman.
More importantly, the 27-year-old Barbadian singer has become the first black woman to represent the Paris-based brand. She previously told MTV “It is such a big deal for me, for my culture, for a lot of young girls of any color. I think, to be acknowledge by Dior is just…it means a lot as a woman to feel beautiful, and elegant and timeless.”
Her campaign film, shot by acclaimed photographer Steven Klein, is the fourth chapter in the Secret Garden saga and was shot in the stunning château and gardens of Versailles. The clip also features Rhianna’s new song from her forthcoming eighth studio album, If Only For A Night.
The Secret Garden series began in 2012 and was originally shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. It featured model Daria Strokous and garnered more than 25 million views on YouTube. Since then, Dior has released parts 2 and 3, both featuring different sides of Versailles.
