Over the last decade, The Ritz-Carlton design team has established a reputation for creating eloquent yet refined hotel interiors, individually tailored to each individual Ritz-Carlton property. Honoring this prestigious position, in true regal style is The Ritz-Carlton, Riyadh. A former palace, the hotel was tastefully converted, opening as the opulent Ritz-Carlton hotel in 2011.
Designed by Al Rasheed Engineering Company and constructed by Oger International, the hotel was originally intended to be a royal guest palace for visiting dignitaries and heads of state.
With stately surrounds and an interior to match, as a hotel is now allows guests to feel like royalty during their stay – instilling a true sense of place across its 493 distinguished rooms and suites.
Situated near Riyadh’s Diplomatic Quarter, the hotel is adjacent to the King Abdul Aziz Convention Centre, one of the largest conference centers in the region. Upon arrival, guests are driven down a one kilometer corridor framed by 213,500 square meters (52 acres) of exquisitely landscaped gardens that hint at the palatial grandeur that lies ahead. Native palms, 600-year old olive trees from Lebanon, and water fountains located throughout the property further create an atmosphere a serenity amidst the hustle and bustle of the city center.
Welcoming guests at the hotel’s stately entrance is a spectacular seven meter fountain set against the backdrop of the hotel’s distinguished ochre facade. Once inside, guests will be awestruck by the over 50,000 square meters of colorful marble, originally sourced from Brazil, Italy and Portugal, that adorn the floors and walls of the vast lobby. Four extraordinary ornamental copper steeds reflect the region’s rich Arabian heritage, while more than 70,000 square meters of hand-made decorative gypsum, and a grand crystal drop chandelier further add to the splendor of the welcoming lobby.
All guestrooms and suites are elegantly styled with vibrant colors and ethnic textures, with subtle touches that reflect the Arabic culture and heritage of the Kingdom. Not just one, but 49 exquisitely appointed two-bedroom Royal Suites, generously measure in at more than 425 square meters each (4,574 square feet,), while 50 opulent one-bedroom Executive Suites measure in at 95 square meters (1,022 square feet). Jewel-toned amethyst, amber, royal blue and emerald color schemes create a stately yet serene atmosphere where guests can unwind in relaxed elegance as personalized and intuitive service ensures a stay to remember.
Located in a separate wing of the hotel are two impressive ballrooms, The Ritz-Carlton Palatial Ballrooms. Identical in size with complementary royal blue and elegant rose color schemes, blushing brides or event planners can choose either room, with a variety of arrangements suited to individual style and taste.
