The Aureus is made by incorporating 24 Karat gold throughout its construction – marking a world first in surfboard manufacturing techniques.
Designed and co-created by Europe’s only professional female board maker, Ellie Miller of Miller Surfboards, the, the limited-edition 6ft 8ins board is reported to be fully functional and hand-built to the highest standards using traditional craftsmanship and modern design.
Priced at $180,660, the one of a kind 24 karat gold surfboard is inspired by the iconic single-fin designs of the early 1970’s. This unique board is exclusive to UK -based LUX surfboards. LUX Surfboards is a partnership with the artist and surface designer Danni Bradford who is an expert in verre-eglomise – the decorative gilding of glass.
The Aureus is lavishly hand gilded with gold leaf enhancing the subtle weave of the fibreglass and imbuing the curves of the board with delicate luminosity. The board is finished with a distinctive deck featuring a triple 24kt gold leaf elliptical pinline design – a typical styling of the era, while the hull boasts a glassed-on gilded gold fiberglass fin and hand-cut 24 karat gold gilded LUX icon.
LUX is a dedicated luxury surfboard brand, set to release a limited number of unique one-off surfboards with each piece inspired by an important design or moment in time in surf history.
