When Hotel Twin Dolphin opened its doors in 1977, it was one of the few luxury resorts in Los Cabos. Offering sunshine, sand and seclusion, it became a getaway for Hollywood’s elite. Elizabeth Taylor, Sophia Loren, Lucille Ball and John Wayne all frequented to the 50-room resort at one time or another.
But the hotel was a victim of its own success. Soon, Los Cabos was the place to be and a raft of competitors followed. It was no longer the paradisiacal hideaway that first drew the A-listers and they stopped coming. Hotel Twin Dolphin closed in 2006 and its original buildings were demolished.
Gone but not forgotten, the hotel’s old grounds have been carefully crafted into an all-new master-planned community named Twin Dolphin Los Cabos. Today, the 1,400-acre site is once again an enclave for the elite, sporting a golf course designed by the legendary Fred Couples and two of the very few pristine, year-round swimmable beaches in the entire region.
The biggest project in its restoration was the creation of Maravilla Los Cabos, a private residential community offering a range of ocean-view and ocean-front villas. Each property comes with inclusive access to The Club at Maravilla, a sprawling 60,000-square-foot members-only club complex, and access to the Santa Maria Beach Club on the Sea of Cortez.
The Club at Maravilla features all of the five-star amenities you would expect from a luxury hotel resort, meaning residents have access to a wide range of services usually reserved for vacationers. This includes a number of different restaurants, a market and snack bar and a state-of-the-art fitness center.
Santa Maria Beach Club is the go-to spot for a casual beach day or for those seeking adventure. Here, residents can do everything from paddle boarding in one of Cabo’s best swimming areas to partaking in a friendly game of pickleball.
Montage Residences Los Cabos is an alternative location for would-be buyers. This 39-acre seaside resort features 52 residences designed to seamlessly integrate indoor-outdoor living. Residence comes with access to the luxurious 40,000-square-foot Spa Montage, and a 20,000-square-foot, multi-level swimming pool along with access to one of the world’s top beaches.
All residents are also invited to join Twin Dolphin Golf Club. This one-of-a-kind 19-hole course has been carved into the surrounding desert with canyon-like arroyos, local flora, and views of the Sea of Cortez from every hole. The club includes an extensive caddy program and state-of-the-art practice facilities.
