Perched atop Le Negresco’s Belle Époque façade, the Jeanne & Paul Penthouse Suite occupies what was once Jeanne Augier’s private sanctuary, the visionary custodian of the hotel known for her elegance and exacting taste. This spirit is preserved in this sprawling double-winged suite, designed by Jean-Philippe Nuel.
The accommodation revolves around the circular Coupole salon, where gilded cornices, fluted bookshelves, a sculptural hearth, and a circular sofa sit beneath a dazzling crystal chandelier. Three private terraces provide sweeping 180-degree views of the Baie des Anges, framing the sparkling Mediterranean below. The terraces feature outdoor seating, an al fresco dining area, and a hot tub, offering a private vantage point over the sea – perfect for morning coffee or sunset cocktails.
The suite is divided into two distinct areas: the Paul Suite, a junior suite with a more intimate vibe, and the Jeanne Suite, which features a light-filled bedroom, library, and office.
The Jeanne wing reflects baroque flourish with subtle modernity. Honeyed-wood walls and silk-draped windows frame the bedroom, while the marble bathroom is softened by a Corian dome finished in a refined pale gold tone, complemented by a sunlit steam alcove. Across the Coupole, the Paul Suite embraces drama with deep crimson walls, carved plaster ceilings, and a boldly striped bed.
The adjoining spa-style bathroom features black marble and a frescoed bas-relief. Both wings include dressing rooms, private terraces, while the Jeanne Suite features an open kitchen designed for private chefs and tastings. Art from Jeanne Augier’s personal collection is thoughtfully displayed throughout, underscoring the hotel’s positioning as an 'art hotel' celebrating French creativity.

The Hotel
Overlooking the Promenade des Anglais, Le Negresco is a Riviera landmark where period architecture meets a vast, eclectic art collection. Many hotels boast impressive art collections, but in the case of Nice’s Le Negresco, the claim is undeniable. Pieces by Moretti, Dalí, and sculptor Niki de Saint-Phalle sit alongside rare antiques and historical paintings. The gallery-like decor is all thanks to Jeanne Augier, the family-owner from 1957 to 2019, an art connoisseur who amassed a museum-worthy collection.
The interiors are as eclectic and telling as the art collection. Each floor reveals its own story, from Louis XIII to modernist, while most rooms boast individual design – some decorated in complete monochrome, others featuring contrasting, and slightly clashing, pink and green – alongside Mediterranean views. The Salon Royal's glass rotunda, stained glass, signature Baccarat chandelier, and decorative flourishes give the hotel a theatrical air, complemented by MICHELIN-starred dining at Le Chantecler, led by Meilleur Ouvrier de France Virginie Basselot.
For a lighter, more relaxed experience, La Rotonde offers contemporary brasserie dining with Niçois charm. N La Plage, the hotel’s beachside restaurant, serves Mediterranean-inspired cuisine amid sun-soaked sea views. Plush sunbeds and deck chairs beneath pergolas, along with semi-indoor lounges, make the beach club a standout, ideal for golden-hour cocktails or a leisurely lunch. Le Versailles, with its sunlit terrace and glittering chandeliers, is perfect for formal moments – we highly recommend it for people-watching and enjoying the Riviera’s evening light. Bar Le 1913, with wood paneling and amber lighting, offers a cozy, intimate setting for jazz, pop, and soul evenings.
Wellness at Le Negresco is centered around N Le Spa, which is anchored in the 'Art of Well-Being' philosophy. The spa features a naturally lit indoor pool with underwater music, a sauna, hammam, hot tub, and sensory showers. Treatments include massages, body scrubs and wraps, facials, and waxing, with a concept store offering skincare products and even custom serum creation.
