The Suite
For scale alone, the Aman Suites stand out: they are the largest one-bedroom accommodations inside the Crown Building. Located across floors 11 and 12, they look directly over the iconic intersection of Fifth Avenue and 57th Street.
The design successfully merges contemporary New York style with the refined minimalism of Japan. These suites are clearly built for extended stays, providing essential residential features like a dedicated office, a full kitchenette, and a wet bar.
A functioning fireplace provides a physical separation between the main living space and the principal bedroom, where a king-sized bed takes center stage. The living area is set up equally well for entertaining or working, featuring plush seating arranged around two coffee tables and a six-person dining table ready for meals or small gatherings. Subtle details matter here, including the artwork, which features reproductions of Hasegawa Tohaku's 'Pine Trees'.
The Hotel
The Aman Hotel is housed in the historic Beaux-Arts Crown Building at the bustling corner of Fifth Avenue and 57th Street. Legendary designer Jean-Michel Gathy was brought in to create the minimalist interiors which, true to Aman form, are a serene haven away from the bustle of the city. The guest rooms, by New York City standards, are huge — suites start at a very impressive 750 sq ft. The aesthetic? If you are a devoted Amanite, you’ll know that true luxury exists in all those subtle, calming details and muted tones. The food pays homage to Aman’s Asian roots, so don’t expect the usual American fare you find at many other New York City spots. For relaxed afternoons away from the bustling city, guests can retreat to the hotel’s expansive spa, complete with a Japanese-inspired onsen and wellness facilities.
