Four Seasons Chicago Renovation Marks 30th Anniversary

The new design and offerings will celebrate Chicago’s famous food and cultural scene.

By Kim Ayling

With brand new restaurant offerings, newly designed premium suites and a re-imagined lounge and social area, the Four Seasons Chicago renovation promises to build upon the existing luxury that guests have come to expect at the established destination.

Aiming to encapsulate the vibrant energy of its home city, the new design and offerings will celebrate Chicago’s famous food and cultural scene. With the hotel industry having taken a hit over previous months, to see one of the world leaders in luxury revealing the largest renovation in its history is a sure sign that it is back on the rise.

Four Seasons Hotel Chicago general manager, Stephen Wancha, who has worked in an impressive seven hotels across the Four Seasons portfolio, has said of the ambitious upgrade: “We are creating a destination where guests can revel in cultural immersion with locally inspired food, drink, art and music that delivers the quintessential Chicago experience.”

Design and style take center stage in the Four Seasons Chicago renovation, with international architecture firm Rottet Studio being brought on-board to oversee the multi-million dollar upgrade. In a move to showcase a modern take on traditional luxury, Four Seasons has adopted a more neutral color palette and an open floor plan, welcoming guests to linger for longer in the hotel’s communal areas, ensuring that Chicago’s inviting social atmosphere doesn’t stop at the hotel’s doors.

The addition of a day bar and living room-style seating aims to create a home-away-from-home atmosphere, without ever compromising on the elevated luxury that comes as standard across the Four Seasons portfolio.

The city’s famed art scene has also been incorporated into the Four Seasons Chicago’s new look, with renowned art consultant Shashi Caudill being enlisted to curate a permanent exhibition throughout every area of the hotel. From contemporary photography in the lobby, through to modernist works in the guest rooms, Caudill’s collection will showcase both local and international artists.

Residing in one of the world’s major food destinations, Four Season Chicago’s upgrade also includes a heavy emphasis on culinary delights. In order to successfully encapsulate the city’s revered food scene, the hotel has partnered with award-winning chef and Chicago-native, Jonathon Sawyer to create a brand new in-house restaurant and bar.

Of the partnership, chef Sawyer has said: “It is a momentous time to join the team as the Hotel is going through a true renaissance. The restaurant will be a key part of this new era for the Hotel and I’m excited to have the opportunity to do something spectacularly surprising with the ultimate food city as my muse.”

Whilst the focus on food and culture is bound to excite most, it is the revitalization of the hotel’s top suites that will serve to intrigue the hotel’s more refined guests. In-keeping with the rest of the renovation, the esteemed Presential Suite will undergo a complete overhaul, with a neutral color palette allowing blue and gold accents to shine through. Sweeping lake views and an impressive 2,700-square-foot of space make this suite the ideal quarters for families to make a home-away-from-home.
