Mandarin Oriental, Boston Opens Its Doors

By Pardhasaradhi Gonuguntla

The luxurious Mandarin Oriental, Boston opened its doors today, bringing the hotel group’s signature oriental service excellence and distinct ‘East Meets West’ design to the vibrant city of Boston.  A celebratory ribbon cutting and feng shui ceremony marked the hotel’s grand opening on October 6, officiated by the Mayor of Boston, the Honorable Thomas M. Menino, and attended by 150 distinguished guests, development partners and Mandarin Oriental executives from around the world.

“We are delighted to open this incomparable new hotel in the celebrated city of Boston,” said General Manager, Susanne Hatje. “With the commitment of our dedicated colleagues, we look forward to bringing Mandarin Oriental’s renowned levels of hospitality to this historic American city.”

Ideally located in the prestigious Back Bay, the new Mandarin Oriental combines classic New England elegance with refined Oriental touches to create the most distinctive hospitality experience in the region.  With 136 elegantly appointed guestrooms and 12 suites, the property will provide the city’s most spacious accommodation amongst Boston hotels. The 16,000-square-foot Spa and Fitness Center, along with 10,000 square feet of stylish function space, the signature restaurant Asana, and the chic M-Bar & Lounge complete the luxurious setting.

To celebrate the arrival of this exclusive hotel, Mandarin Oriental has introduced a special opening promotion available until March 31, 2009.  Guests can enjoy one complimentary night accommodation in conjunction with two or more consecutive paid nights of stay with the “We ‘Fan’ Boston” offer. The package also features daily American breakfast for two at signature restaurant, Asana, and special benefits to showcase the city’s finest cultural attractions.  This offer is subject to space availability, and advance reservations are required.  Rates for the “We ‘Fan’ Boston” offer start at US$1,560 for a Deluxe Room for a minimum of two nights, and are exclusive of taxes and gratuities.  All room categories are available for the inaugural offer.

For reservations and further details, please contact the hotel at 1-866-526-6567, or visit Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group’s online reservation service at: www.mandarinoriental.com/boston.  Deluxe Room rates begin at $665.
