Hot off the heels of winning the prestigious RINA Green award during the Monaco Yacht Show, we stepped on board M/Y Home to get a behind-the-scenes tour of the world’s first yacht to combine Heesen’s efficient hull form with hybrid propulsion.
Yacht builder Heesen’s CEO Arthur Brouwer shared with us that when Home was leaving the shipyard earlier this year her departure coincided with another Heesen yacht with a more traditional hull form leaving. Comparing her with this other vessel, Home was more than 48% more efficient, which in terms of environment impact really is exceptional.
Home’s interior, care of Cristiano Gatto, is contemporary with hints of the owner’s favorite color – burgundy – throughout, creating a cohesive, elegant journey for anyone on board. As you enter through the main saloon these hints of burgundy blend perfectly with the grey interior styling and stylish furniture. Bold design pieces such as a chrome chaise lounge standout.
Built to be a home away from home, the pièce de résistance is of course the owner’s suite. With floor to ceiling windows this is a clean and modern space flooded with natural light and the perfect place to enjoy the stunning vistas on offer in the areas that her shallow draft allow her entry to.
The use of outdoor furniture inside gives a friendly and laid-back air to the upper saloon, with resin filled bar a welcome accompaniment. Large swathes of the yacht feature completely glass walls, with Home reportedly using 30% more glass than any Heesen before her.
