The Chelsea Townhouse Welcomes First Guests

This boutique London hotel is set across three Victorian townhouses in a leafy square.

Iconic Luxury Hotels isn’t one to do things half-heartedly. Following the opening of The Mayfair Townhouse and 11 Cadogan Gardens, the family-owned hospitality brand has added yet another elegant boutique hotel to its eclectic portfolio: The Chelsea Townhouse.

Set within three Victorian red-brick townhouses connected by a network of secret staircases and concealed corridors, the latest outpost feels more akin to a graceful private home than a hotel.

Overlooking a shady garden square, the new property is a stone’s throw from its sister hotel – 11 Cadogan Gardens – and a short stroll from Chelsea’s exclusive Sloane Square.

Iconic Luxury Hotels acquired the Draycott Hotel and set to work on an extensive refurb before reopening the property as The Chelsea Townhouse. London-based architecture studio Gary Kellett was brought in to head up the renovation, making every effort to preserve the building’s rich history while breathing new life into the property. Expect beautifully restored furnishings and antique-style artwork at every turn.

This really is a boutique hotel in every sense: The property has just 36 light, breezy bedrooms. Decorated in shades of pale gray and cream, each room is entirely unique. We love the look of the Garden Suites which boast soaring ceilings and the best views of the square below.

Elsewhere guests can enjoy a bite to eat at the laid-back dining salon, while away the afternoon with a book in the Library, or take an amble in the peaceful garden square mere steps from the front door. Those staying at The Chelsea Townhouse will also have access to the facilities at 11 Cadogan Gardens, including the property’s private gym.

“At Iconic Luxury Hotels, our hotels embody the spirit of the iconic address and neighborhood they are located in,” said Andrew Stembridge, executive director at Iconic Luxury Hotels. “The Chelsea Townhouse is no different – it is the spirit of residential Chelsea, tucked behind one of the most exclusive shopping districts, Sloane Street.”

He continued: “Guests will feel as if they are in a private townhouse of a very elegant friend, nestled away from the bustle of the city amongst lush gardens and towering treetops. In a time when larger internationally owned hotels are sweeping the city, we’re excited to bring to life a truly independent property with an authentic story to tell.”
