Indulgent $7,000 Wine Class Available At The Luxurious Royal Hideaway Playacar

By Pardhasaradhi Gonuguntla

Miami – Royal Hideaway Playacar, an all-inclusive resort on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, is offering a $7,000 Wine Class to guests looking for a touch more exclusivity in their luxury vacation. The experience includes a private wine class with Royal Hideaway’s French-born wine expert, Olivier Cramail, a bottle of the rare 1986 Petrus, and a perfectly paired dinner for two on the beach.

As part of the class, Cramail will guide the participants on a tour of the resorts’ extensive wine cellar, followed by instruction on the art of wine selection, pairing wine with meals and appreciating the most subtle flavors in each glass they taste. Cramail, having trained at C.V.B.G (Centre Viticole de Bordeaux Gironde), personally selects all of the wine for Royal Hideaway Playacar (158 vintages are currently available on-site) from Europe, carefully choosing a variety that will complement the diverse food offerings at the resort’s six á la carte restaurants.
At the heart of the $7,000 Wine Class is a 750 ml bottle of 1986 Petrus. This Bordeaux blend is the region’s most intensely concentrated, richly flavored and unique red wine and one of the most highly rated and expensive wines in the world.  With incredible power, depth and richness, it is dark red with an amber edge and has aromas of chocolate, stewed berries, spicy vanilla, oak, merlot and raisins. Cramail and the resort chefs will create a three-course meal that is perfectly paired with the wine, and the couples’ taste, to be served at a private table for two on the beach.
Royal Hideaway Playacar vacations start from $300* per person, per night, based on double occupancy. The $7,000 Wine Class is available as an upgrade with any Royal Hideaway Playacar vacation, based on availability.

All Royal Hideaway Playacar vacations include unlimited meals and snacks, with six á la carte specialty restaurants and 24-hour room service, unlimited drinks featuring premium alcoholic beverages, a selection of house wines, juices and soft drinks, daily resort activities, evening entertainment, DVD library, non-motorized water sports, and all taxes and gratuities.

Château Petrus
Château Petrus’ vineyards of the Pomerol appellation, in the Bordeaux region of France, produce just 35,000 bottles per year. Pomerol’s are well-structured and complex wines and Petrus is reputed to be the best Pomerol in the world. The grapes at Château Petrus’ vineyards are picked only in the afternoon, when the morning dew has evaporated, so as not to risk even the slightest dilution of quality. The composition of the topsoil and the subsoil at Petrus is almost all clay. Merlot flourishes in this soil and for this reason, the vineyard is planted with 95% merlot. The vines are unusually old and are only replanted after they reach 70 years of age. The processes used have resulted in the creation of a wine characterized by an intense, dark color, and by extremely delicate tannins.
