Nautor’s Swan is proud to announce that its President, Leonardo Ferragamo, has been recognized by Finland for his long-term commitment to and support of Nautor’s Swan, one the country’s most iconic companies. Mr Ferragamo has been made “Commander of the Order of the Lion of Finland.” The award ceremony took place on 23rd October 2008, forming part of the 10th anniversary celebration of the acquisition of Nautor’s Swan by the syndicate led by Mr Ferragamo.
The award has been presented by Mr. Pauli Mäkelä, the Finnish Ambassador to Italy, at the Italian Embassy in Helsinki. Also present at the ceremony was Mrs. Elisabetta Kelescian, Italian Ambassador to Finland, and former-Prime Minister of Finland, Mr Paavo Lipponen. The celebration moved to Pietarsaari home to Nautor’s Swan since its birth in 1966, where Ambassador Mäkelä, former-Prime Minister Lipponen and Mr Ferragamo joined the employees of Nautor’s Swan in further commemorating the past decade, which has seen the company not only build on its strengths to retain its position as the premier builder of ocean-going performance sailing yachts, but also successfully enter new markets in the world of luxury sailing yachts.
