Virgin Atlantic Launches Second Daily Hong Kong Service

By Pardhasaradhi Gonuguntla

South Norwalk, CT – Virgin Atlantic Airways today launched a second service between London Heathrow and Hong Kong. The new flight, which will begin daily service on Dec. 4, 2008, will complement the airline’s existing daily program to Hong Kong, which connects to Virgin Atlantic’s flights to Sydney.

Virgin Atlantic first launched flights between London and Hong Kong in February 1994 and has since carried over 2.3m passengers on the route.

The new second daily service will double the airline’s capacity between London and Hong Kong, offering passengers more choice and flexibility when traveling to the Far East and Australia.

The new flight will be operated on an Airbus A340-600. From Oct. 28 through Dec. 3, 2008, flight VS238 will operate three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and then operate daily starting Dec. 4, 2008. VS238 will depart London Heathrow Terminal 3 at 4:00pm, arriving in Hong Kong at 12:30pm the following afternoon.
