New York – From January 22-29, during the peak whale-migration season in the Caribbean in 2009, Tanya Streeter, who has set ten world records for freediving (diving without the aid of an aquatic-breathing apparatus), will be in residence at the Amanyara resort in the Turks and Caicos Islands and sharing her knowledge with guests.
Amanyara will offer gentle stretching and breathing classes in which Tanya Streeter will teach the breathing techniques that helped her achieve her deep dives (her personal breath-holding best is almost six-and-a-half minutes!). She will also lead private sessions in the open sea, including snorkeling tours and freediving lessons in Amanyara Bay and scuba diving sessions without any gear of her own (freediving “mermaid-style” around participants at depths of more than 50 feet). On dry land, she will host several short presentations and film screenings of her documentary “Diving with Whales” and will be available to chat informally with guests over cocktails.
