Venice and the Veneto, September 27 October 3, 2009 An unusual twist on a Venetian holiday, this new seven-day, six-night exploration of the Veneto region begins in the medieval town of Vicenza and explores the area through the eyes of one of its most famous architects, Palladio. Walkers will wander the streets and admire the beautiful countryside while also visiting some of Palladios greatest villas, cathedrals and bridges. The trip also includes a private boat tour and a regional Asiago cheese, grappa and Prosecco tasting. Participants will discover the opulence of the Venetian empire contrasted with a region with tunnels and trenches of World War I as well as alpine meadows and mountain villages.
