Boucheron
Place Vendôme-based jewelry house Boucheron looked to a quintessentially French delicacy, the macaron, for the subject of its new jewelry collection. Part of the Gaité Parisienne line of high jewelry, Tentation Macaron, offers jewels in “flavors” like green tsavorite, orange sapphire, brown diamond and amethyst. Choose from a menu that includes five rings, reversible earrings and a sautoir with multiple macaron charms suspended from a network of white gold chains.
Yvel
Best known for exquisite pearl jewelry that embraces each gem’s natural color and shape, Yvel took a new tack at this year’s BaselWorld by making sapphires the focus of the new Rainbow collection. As is the case with its pearls, Yvel emphasizes the unique beauty of each gemstone—though their surfaces have been polished, the sapphires have not been treated to alter their color and are unfaceted. Every piece—set in yellow gold and in sapphires that range from raspberry pink to slate grey to frosty white—is a one-of-a-kind jewel with understated sophistication.
Picchiotti
Valenza, Italy-based Picchiotti is one of the rare jewelry makers that still produces every component of its jewelry in-house. That artisanal handiwork keeps the demand for its jewelry at hard-to-get highs no matter the state of the economy. Sublime gemstones matched with playful motifs like stars, feathers and flowers are signatures of its women’s fine jewelry. And a first for the brand is its new collection of jewelry for men. The finely edited collection of rings and cufflinks, primarily in combinations of onyx with diamonds will change the mind of anyone that thinks diamonds should be reserved for women only.
