Huntington Beach is surf central for Southern California. Next month, when the 157-room Shorebreak Hotel debuts, the destination will finally have a luxury property that embraces its barefoot, beach culture.
The California-based Joie de Vivre group of boutique hotels will open the Shorebreak on May 12. Its guestrooms, which include 39 suites, resemble a hip friend’s beach house complete with photography of famous local surfers.
Shorebreak’s Zimzala Restaurant and Bar will serve Mediterranean cuisine with an emphasis on fresh seafood in a beachy-casual setting. At night, guests can relax by courtyard fire pits and enjoy ‘smores and cocktails. During the day, surf and sand aficionados can call on the hotel’s beach butler, who will arrange access to a variety of recreational activities including surf lessons, beach volleyball and beach cruisers for use along the 3.5 miles of pristine shoreline that lie just beyond the hotel’s door. The Shorebreak also offers onsite fitness facilities and a yoga studio.
For a meeting retreat, the property will offer 8,000 square feet of function space, including a ballroom and private dining room with wraparound terrace.
