The Otesaga Resort Hotel opens today celebrating its 100th season. When it officially opened to the public in 1909, The Otesaga was called the most “complete and luxurious summer hotel in America.” Today, this beloved and historic hotel remains one of the country’s most storied landmarks whose very presence is inextricably linked with America’s favorite pastime. The Otesaga provides a captivating setting for exploring Cooperstown’s famed cultural and educational institutions––the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, Fenimore Art Museum, and Farmers’ Museum––as well as an array of recreational facilities, including the award-winning Leatherstocking Golf Course.
To celebrate its 100th anniversary, The Otesaga will be offering its guests beverage and dining menus that feature authentic selections from the 1900’s, as well as a host of other centennial-themed events and room packages. Highlights include a “Cooperstown Museum Experience Package,” “VIP Centennial Package,” “Turn Back the Clock” rate offer, “Unlimited Golf Package,” and “100th Anniversary Romantic Overnight Special.”
“In keeping with its name, which is derived from the Iroquois word for ‘A place of meetings,’ The Otesaga has welcomed returning Hall of Famers, celebrities, conventioneers, and tourists for 100 years now,” said John Irvin, general manager of The Otesaga. “If there were a Hall of Fame for hotels, The Otesaga would be inducted today.”
