C2 Limited Design Associates have been named interior designers for the new casino at The Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. The $25 million project is estimated to debut April 1, 2010 with a 50,000-square-foot casino and mezzanine entertainment venue to include coffee, wine and sushi bars, a full service restaurant ,and ten retail shops. C2 Limited will be creating a new guest registration lobby, along with a temporary gaming venue located in 38°80°, a lounge in the resort’s Virginia Wing with a projecting opening date of September 2009.
Designers Craig J. Smith and Christina H. Romann are familiar with the historic resort from prior projects, having captured the rustic beauty of the Allegheny Mountains in the amenity buildings at The Greenbrier Sporting Club and the classic elegance of Dorothy Draper’s original designs in The Greenbrier Resort&’s Theatre Corridor and North Lobby. With this new project at The Greenbrier, Romann’s goal is to “bring the integrity and elegance of the hotel into the casino.”
Jim Justice, chairman/owner of The Greenbrier, announced key plans last week for the new casino as the momentum at the resort continues to grow. Todd Fishon, a gaming industry leader with 23 years of experience including the Foxwoods Resort and Casino, was introduced as vice president of casino operations for The Greenbrier and architectural firm of Shope Reno Wharton will design the building.
