The AAA Five Diamond Four Seasons Resort Hualālai unveiled the results of its 15-month, $40-million enhancement today, showcasing 20 new suites, a sweeping spa transformation, renovated beachfront bar, lounge and restaurant and stylish new retail boutiques. Gloriously revitalized, the award-winning resort reestablishes its reputation as an unparalleled yet understated destination that honors the essence of Hawaiian design, culture and tradition. In celebration, the resort is offering guests a $495 promotional rate on stays this fall, beginning September 15.
“Since it opened in 1996, Four Seasons Resort Hualālai has enjoyed a reputation as best of the best,” said General Manager Robert Whitfield. “These new enhancements raise the bar for luxury resorts in Hawaii and solidifies the resort’s reputation as a place where guests return to relax, celebrate success and create memories.”
New Ocean-View Suites
The resort’s newest accommodations are 20 one- and two-bedroom suites offering between 1,150 and 1,950 square feet of indoor-outdoor living space characterized by expansive living rooms, spacious balconies and commanding ocean views. Designed by San Francisco designers Babey Moulton Jue & Booth (BaMo) in collaboration with Philpotts & Associates, Hawaii’s preeminent design firm, the suites feature comfortable custom furnishings and the textures of Hawaii. Exotic woods, stone and natural textiles complement clean-lined furniture that is accented with traditional Hawaiian fabrics. Traditional and contemporary Hawaiian art graces the walls. Extra touches include slate bathrooms with steam showers and lanais off both the master bedroom and living rooms, maximizing the ocean views.
Hualālai Spa and New Apothecary
The completely transformed 28,000-square-foot Hualālai spa integrates tropical gardens with cool interior spaces and feels distinctly Hawaiian. Guests are welcomed into a tranquil interior space rich with dark tropical woods, high-pitched woven ceilings and dappled sunlight falling through bamboo screens. The new open-air Waiea or “Water of Life” garden invites guests to enjoy complimentary pre-treatment rituals by a quiet stream. Guests can choose one of four new outdoor hales in which to enjoy their spa experience, which may include a new signature Apothecary treatment. Kūpuna (island elders) shared their healing traditions and knowledge of native plants and minerals to help in the creation of Hualālai’s spa Apothecary. With the guidance of their spa therapist, guests can choose from more than 20 local natural ingredients, from Hawaiian sea salt to crushed macadamia nuts, which are custom-blended to create unique personalized spa treatments.
Beachfront Dining
Beach Tree, the pulse of the resort, where guests unwind, reconnect and celebrate at the ocean’s edge, has transformed its interior and exterior spaces and introduces a dynamic new chef and new menu. Renowned for its signature style of “barefoot elegance,” the restaurant has a Hawaiian beach house feel marked by 16-foot vaulted ceilings and expansive water views. New trellised seating provides for al fresco dining, and expanded outdoor lounge spaces set the stage for the perfect beachfront cocktail. New Chef de Cuisine Nick Mastrascusa, who joins Four Seasons Resort Hualalai from 5757 Restaurant at Four Seasons Hotel New York, oversees a menu featuring the best of California with Italian influences.
Boutique Shopping
Two new resort boutiques offer expertly chosen merchandise that even the most sophisticated shopper will appreciate. At the spa, Seaside features designers such as Allegra Hicks, Tory Burch, Catherine Malandrino, James Perse, Diane von Furstenberg and more. Seaside Luxe, offers a fusion of high-fashion lines such as Pucci, Missoni and Zac Posen and jewelry from Irene Neuwirth, along with children’s beachwear all in a bungalow setting outfitted with custom furniture and home accessories from renowned designer Tim Clarke.
