The first season of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo championship will soon be crossing the finishing line. The venue of this penultimate event in this year’s calendar, the famous Circuit de Catalunya inaugurated in 1991, is one of the most modern Formula 1racing tracks in the world. Every year, this highly technical and selective site hosts various motorbike and car races. This weekend, the Blancpain President and the Dutch motor-racing champion took 1st place in the 2nd and 3rd races. By doing so, co-drivers Marc A. Hayek and Peter Kox, backed by their Reiter Engineering team, further consolidated their rankings in the Pro-Am and Pro categories—a result that augurs well for the final championship race to be held at the Castellet track from October 2nd to 4th.
For the second and last time this season, the Super Trofeo event was held alongside the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters) championship. This 5th Grand Prix, organized within the context of the Formula 3 Euro Series and Porsche Carrera Cup, was raced by pro-am driver teams including Marc A. Hayek, President and CEO of Blancpain, as well as Peter Kox, former Le Mans 24 Hours winner.
Both proud and happy to note the excellent results achieved to date, Blancpain enthusiastically supports the personal involvement of Marc A. Hayek at the wheel of car no. 24, a high-speed racing version of the LP560-4 Lamborghini Gallardo. This pioneering spirit driving the brand since 1735 has given rise to a limited series of Blancpain Super Trofeo Chronographs. Composed of innovative materials, this model equipped with a flyback function is made from DLC-treated steel. Its case is water-resistant to 100 meters and features a design inspired by the front profile of the Lamborghini Gallardo, highlighted by alternating satin-brushed and polished surfaces. The movement powering this dynamic flyback chronograph, mechanical self-winding Calibre F185, is endowed with a 40-hour power reserve and comprises 308 parts. Its forceful nature is further enhanced by a state-of-the-art electroplating treatment serving to blacken the bridges and the mainplate. The Blancpain Super Trofeo Chronograph is fitted with a strap made from alcantara—just like the Gallardo upholstery—complete with a steel folding clasp.
